  • Alappuzha (Alleppey) is one of the prominent tourist destinations in the state of Kerala. Alappuzha backwaters offer the most exotic cruising experience. It is renowned for its boat races all over the world. Kuttanad in Alappuzha is one of the few places, where rice cultivation is made below the sea level.

  • Alappuzha Beach:  Alappuzha Beach is an exotic spot that allures hundreds of tourists. It is conveniently located near the Alappuzha station. It is just 85 Kilometers away from the Kochi airport. Boat cruising, fishing, sunbathing and backwater destination cruise are some of the most refreshing beach activities that can be done here. The lighthouse and thousand feet pier are some other interesting attractions found here.

  •  Backwater Cruise: Alappuzha backwater cruise lets you enjoy picturesque landscapes, monuments, temples and churches. The boat cruise on the Punnamada Kayal helps you to enjoy the mesmerizing views of coconut and paddy fields. Chinese fishing nets are yet another attraction in Alappuzha.

  • Krishnapuram Palace: Krishnapuram Palace is located 47 kilometers away from Alappuzha. It was built in18th century by King Marthanda Varma. It is a fine example of Kerala style of architecture. Now, it is preserved by the archeological department. You can see the fascinating mural painting of Gajendra Moksham in this palace. It depicts the salvation of the elephant King Gajendra by Lord Vishnu. A beautifully landscaped garden, comprising of a variety of flora and a Buddha Mandapam are the important attractions here. There is a museum in this palace that houses rare antiques, bronze sculptures and paintings.

  • Ambalapuzha Temple: Ambalapuzha temple is located 14 kms away from Alappuzha. It was built in typical Kerala style of architecture. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna.  The temple is renowned for its daily offering of sweet milk porridge (palpayasam). The idol of the temple is in the form of Parthasarathi. The lord has a whip in one hand and a Shankha in another hand. The inner walls of the temple are adorned with the paintings of Dasavatharam, which is the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu to preserve the world. An idol of Shri Krishna made in black granite stone can also be seen here.

  • Kuttanad: Kuttanad is known as the rice bowl of Kerala. It is famous for its farming below the sea level. Pampa, Achankovil, Manimala and Meenachil are the four major rivers flow into this region.

  • Boat Races: Alappuzha boat races are more famous and hundreds of tourists throng the city to see the most important boat race namely the Nehru Trophy boat race. It is conducted in the months of August-September.

  • Mullakkal Rajeshwari Temple: This temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvathi. Navrathri festival is celebrated for nine days in this temple in a grand manner.
