Tourist Attractions In Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer features many interesting tourist attractions including the beautiful temples, majestic forts and the enchanting havelis. Visitors are practically taken way back in history as they enter the mysterious forts. The mesmerizing amber hue of the Golden Fort is absolutely stunning to behold.

Jaisalmer Fort - Jaisalmer Fort is situated 100m above the city and features huge ramparts and a citadel. This fort can be accessed through different entrances including the Bhoota Pol, Suraj Pol, Ganesh Pol and Hava Pol. All these entrances encompass the Jawahar Mahal and Megh Durbar.

Havelis - You can walk through the exciting lanes from the main market Manek Chowk where you will come across fascinating havelis such as Nathmalji ki haveli, Salim Sing ki haveli and Patwon ki haveli that feature stunning and intricate latticework. Enjoy viewing the exquisite cutwork, bracket shaped peacock decorations and red/yellow stone treatment in these architectural marvels.

Temples – The most beautiful and enchanting a Jain temple in Jaisalmer is the Parswanath Temple. Here you can find the mesmerizing carvings of human and animal figures. Lodhruva is a historical city close to Jaisalmer which is also a popular pilgrimage centre. This city features a famous Jain Temple frequented by tourists.

Gadsisar Sagar Tank – This picnic spot is frequented by all tourists who come to visit Jaisalmer. During winter, you can find a variety of migratory birds here. You can enjoy boating in the sparkling waters of this rainwater lake. The Museum and Desert Culture Centre in Jaisalmer offers you in-depth historical knowledge of this fascinating city. Jaisalmer does not have a civilian airport. The nearest airport to reach this city is the Jodhpur airport which is around 285 Kms away. There is one airport at Jaisalmer which is exclusively for the Indian Air Force.
