Udaipur, also known as the city of lakes is one of
the most beautiful cities in Rajasthan. It was the
capital city of the former Mewar Kingdom. It was
founded by Rana Udai Singh, father of the most
famous Rajput king Maharana Pratap. Udaipur is known
as the city of lakes, because it is surrounded by
azure water lakes.
Udaipur attracts more and more tourists every year
with its charm. Lake Palace is the most gorgeous
tourist spot in the city. It also boasts of various
monuments, palaces, gardens, museums, temples and
lakes. Shilpgram Fair and Mewar Festival are the two
important festivals that allure tourists from all

Things To See In Udaipur:
· The
City Palace:
The City Palace was constructed by Maharana Udai Singh,
but the succeeding kings added various palaces and
structures to the main complex. You can gain access to
the palace through the Hati Pol or the Elephant gate.
The main part of the palace is maintained as a museum.
It displays a wide array of artifacts. The Mor Chowk or
Peacock Square is one of the main attractions of this
palace. A vibrant blue mosaic in a glass of a peacock
decorates the wall of this square. You can see stunning
mirror work in the Moti Mahal, located inside the City
palace.
· Lake
Palace:
Lake Palace is the most beautiful palace in Udaipur. It
is located amidst the alluring waters of the Pichola
Lake. It was constructed by Maharana Jagat Singh in the
year 1743. It served as a summer palace for the royal
family. It was converted into five star palace hotel
later. Maharanas were close friends of the Mughal
Emperors. It is believed that Shah Jahan used some of
the features of Lake Palace, while constructing his
unmatched building Taj Mahal. The palace features
spacious courtyards that are lined with columns and
pillared terraces. Beautiful gardens and fountains add
to the charm of this palace. The rooms are adorned with
painted mirrors, inland stones of pink and cusped
arches.

Shilpgram
Museum:
Shilpgram museum is located three kilometers away from
Udaipur. It houses rural arts and crafts. It also
encompasses a living ethnographic museum that represents
the lifestyle of the tribal people. The open air
Amphitheater and traditional huts are the most important
attractions here. During winter, a colorful festival is
organized in the Shilpgram museum that attracts
thousands of tourists.
· Jag
Mandir:
Jag Mandir is a beautiful island palace located in Lake
Pichola. It was built by Maharana Karan Singh, for
evading the Mughal Prince Khurram from the rage of his
father Emperor Jahangir. Khurram’s mother was a Rajput
woman, so Maharana lent his support to the prince.
· Jagdish
Temple:
This temple is dedicated to Lord Lakshmi Narayan. It is
situated inside the Coty palace complex, Udaipur.
Maharana Jagat Singh built this temple in the year 1651.
The temple is famous for its architectural beauty. It
comprises elegantly carved pillars, painted halls and
decorated ceilings. The main shrine comprises of a
beautiful four armed image of Lord Lakshmi Narayan.
