Manchester of the East

In 1411 sultan of Gujarat Ahmed Shah (Alap Khan) founded a new city called Ahmedabad by defeating Rajput and Malab to become the sultan.

He also shifted his capital from Patan to Ashabad (Ahmedabad).

Only recently, Ahmedabad was capital of Gujarat. For better working condition, the capital has been shifted to Gandhinagar, 23 Km away from Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad is Located on the west of India on sabarmati river-rine situated the 2nd largest textile industrial city Ahmedabad. Subhash, Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar and Illius - 5 bridges on the river Sabarmati has developed a linkline with both sides of the river.

It were the British who initiated modernization of Ahmedabad city. British formed the first municipality in Ahmedabad in 1833 and the 1st textile mill in Ahmedabad in 1859.

With roll of time, in 1900 Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi appeared to plead the interest of labour community. Later Mahatma Gandhi became the leader of the nation.

Ahmedabad became world famous for its textile industry and it is known as Manchester of the East.

The tourist season is round the year, but from
Oct to March is the best. However, tourist should avoid summer in April-June. Ahmedabad is situated above 53 m from the sea level.

Both Hindu and Muslim equally share the population strength, about 33 lakh of the people live here.
